The fine print of The Soft Mouth: sources, limits, and the terms on which every position is kept.

Every position in this manifesto is written from public sources and the observable record of the breed: standards, scoring rules, trial regulations and published health schemes. This page is the same discipline applied to the site itself.

Sources

Positions cite their sources in the margin so the reader can check the work: the FCI and national kennel clubs for the standard and titles, the BVA/KC and OFA schemes for hip and elbow grading, published DNA test panels for the genetic entry, and the trial rules of the bodies that run working tests and field trials.

Limits

A health entry describes what a test or score records, not what a dog carries or a litter will inherit; those answers live with a veterinarian and the testing laboratory. A pedigree entry explains how names and titles are read, never a claim about a specific dog. Where a historical example serves, it serves as an example from the documented record.

Terms

The site is published for readers. Nothing in it is an offer to sell, a puppy announcement or a recommendation about a particular dog, breeder or transaction. The manifesto keeps no accounts, takes no deposits and runs no contact forms.
